Sunset Hill Rug
Sunset Hill Rug
From our Nantucket Collection. Named for Sunset Hill, the rise at the western edge of town that is home to the Jethro Coffin House. Built in 1686 as a wedding gift for Jethro Coffin and Mary Gardner, it is known simply as the Oldest House, the oldest on the island still standing on its original site.
The Sunset Hill Rug
Hand-knotted in Pakistan from pure wool, this piece draws on a classic village design of bold medallions, flowering branches, and graceful scrolls, reimagined in a soft, airy palette. Timeless yet fresh, it brings a sense of history and ease to a living room, dining room, or bedroom.
Colors in Detail
The field is a pale sea-mist gray with a hint of green, like fog lifting off the harbor at first light. Across it, medallions are outlined in deep navy and shell ivory, while blossoms open in cornflower and cobalt blue, butter cream, olive gold, and warm touches of dusty rose and apricot, like the last glow of a sunset over the island. The wide border repeats the soft blue-gray ground with navy and ivory medallions, framed by bands of sand and camel dotted with little blue rosettes.
