Somerset Rug
Somerset Rug
From our Nantucket Collection. Named for Somerset Road, which winds across the middle of the island toward Hummock Pond and Miacomet, past open fields and conservation land on the way to the south shore beaches.
The Somerset Rug
Hand-knotted in Egypt by skilled Armenian weavers from pure wool, this piece is made with a larger knot that gives it a rich, substantial texture and a wonderfully soft feel underfoot. Its classic design of medallions and flowering palmettes feels warm and collected, like a treasured piece passed down through generations.
Colors in Detail
The field is a warm terracotta red, like weathered brick glowing in the late afternoon sun. Across it, medallions and palmettes open in golden sand and butter cream, pale sky blue, and soft sage, touched with rose and ivory. A wide border in slate blue, the color of the sea on a cloudy day, frames the design with blossoms in coral, sand, and sage, set between narrow ivory stripes dotted with tiny crimson rosettes.
